When I was little, I can assure you I never answered the "what do you want to be when you grow up" question with "actuary." I don't even think I knew what actuarial science was until high school when I took one of those random career aptitude tests. It seemed great at first - wow, there is this super secure job that pays a ton and is pretty much made for math lovers like me! I want in! Well… not quite. I'm pretty sure they left out the exam part on purpose. Or maybe I underestimated the exams. Regardless, I'm 30% of the way there and still learning a lot about the profession every day.
If you found this site, you're probably already aware that Actuary has consistently been ranked one of the top jobs in the United States (#1 in 2015). As a result, more people are trying to break into the industry and it's becoming more difficult to get an entry-level position. On the resources page, I've tried to compile every single relevant and helpful site I could think of that may be of interest to anyone interested in the profession. I will also post regularly on my blog about exams, networking, interview tips, resume tips and other related information.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any comments or suggestions!
